Marcelo Bilac is an internationally recognized Brazilian designer, known for the use of solid wood and steel in unusual and inspiring ways, telling stories through his furniture. The Murici pieces bring enormous poetic power: the murici is one of the first trees to sprout in the Cerrado, a vast tropical savanna ecoregion of Brazil, after a long period of drought or fire, being a symbol of resistance and resurgence. Taking this theme as an impulse, and making use of industrial residues of hardwoods, the piece is concepted with several fractional elements that create a series of distinct bundles that together form a reconstituted trunk and from this “springs” a leaf in steel, providing different perspectives of the same object.
